Description Quebecor Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates in the telecommunications, news media, broadcasting, leisure and entertainment, and interactive technologies and communications industries primarily in Canada. Its Telecommunications segment offers television distribution, Internet, business solutions, cable and mobile telephony services; and rents movies and televisual products through its video-on-demand service and its distribution and rental stores; and operates specialized Internet sites. As of December 31, 2011, it had 1,861,500 cable television customers, 1,332,500 Internet access subscribers, 1,205,300 cable telephony subscribers, and 290,600 mobile telephony subscribers. The companys News Media segment engages in printing, publishing, and distributing daily and weekly newspapers, directories, and commercial inserts; and operation of Internet sites, including French-and English-language portals and specialized sites, as well as provision of news content to other customers. As of December 31, 2011, it published 36 paid-circulation dailies; 6 free dailies; and 236 community weeklies, magazines, weekly buyers guides, farm publications, and other specialty publications. Its Broadcasting segment operates general-interest television networks, specialized television networks, magazine publishing, and movie distribution businesses. The companys Leisure and Entertainment segment is involved in the publication and distribution of books; retail sale of CDs, books, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, musical instruments, and magazines; online sale of downloadable music and e-books; and production and distribution of music. The Interactive Technologies and Communications segment offers Internet, Intranet, and Extranet development, technological platforms, e-commerce solutions, and e-marketing and online customer relationship management strategies and programs in North America, Europe, and Asia.
