B. L. Jackson, Jr., age 85, has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 1983. Mr. Jackson?s long tenure in our executive and board leadership strongly links us to the mission and values established by our founders. Mr. Jackson served as our Chief Executive Officer from 1966 to 1982. His work with the Comptroller of the Currency and the West Virginia Bankers Association illustrates his support and dedication to the banking industry. After completing his military service in World War II, Mr. Jackson graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Accounting and graduated from banking school at the University of Wisconsin. During the early 60?s, Mr. Jackson served as Executive Vice President and President of Mercer County Bank in Princeton, West Virginia. In 1964 he was elected Executive Vice President of The First National Bank of Bluefield; and in 1966, he was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of First Century Bank, N.A., our subsidiary. He was also President of the Southwest Virginia National Bank in Bluefield, Virginia. As a part of his duties, he served on Advisory Committees with the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Reserve Fifth District. His activities have included leadership and service on the boards of banks, regional businesses, medical associations, youth groups, colleges and business groups. Mr. Jackson has also served the President of Group V West Virginia Bankers and an active officer in the American Institute of Banking. He was an active Chairman of several committees of the West Virginia Bankers Association and later President of the West Virginia Bankers Association.
