Description H. Daniel Perez, M.D. Dr. Perez became a member of our board on July 20, 2006. Dr. Perez is currently a Venture Partner at Bay City Capital, LLC, a venture firm located in San Francisco. From 2001 until 2006, Dr. Perez was the President and CEO of Berlex Biosciences. He joined Berlex Biosciences in 1993. Berlex Biosciences combined biotechnology and pharmaceutical discovery and development technologies to deliver innovative treatments for cardiovascular, cancer and immuno-based disorders. He earned his undergraduate degree at Mariano Moreno School, Argentina and graduated from Buenos Aires University Medical School. After completing an internship and residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, Dr. Perez was a Fellow in Rheumatology at New York University-Bellevue Medical Center. He served on the NYU faculty until he was recruited by the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) Medical School to start the Rosalind Russell Arthritis Center at San Francisco General Hospital under the direction of Dr. Ira Goldstein. Dr. Perez is currently a Professor of Medicine at UCSF. Dr. Perez has extensive experience in, and familiarity with, the biotechnology and pharmaceutical development process and in and with the financing environment for that development process.
