Description Actinogen Limited engages in the discovery and isolation of soil actinomycetes that are found in Western Australia. It develops various actinomycete isolates, which produce antibiotic activity primarily against Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci (VRE) bacteria, pathogenic gram positive anaerobic bacterium, and pathogenic Candida species. The company also develops various isolates that synthesize plant growth hormones; isolates, which are capable of tolerating saline solutions that may have application in the rehabilitation of salt affected soils; isolates that synthesize volatile antifungal chemicals, including polyenes; isolates, which can digest the starch based plastics; actinomycetes that can produce Shikimic acid for use in antiviral drugs; and isolates, which produce bioactive molecules, which are directed against the human cancer stem cells. In addition, it intends to seek commercial application for bioactive compounds produced by soil actinomycetes.
